Marcia Gay Harden

Marcia Gay Harden was born on August 14 1959 in La Jolla, California, the fifth child of five. Beverly Bushfield was her maternal grandmother and Thad Harden, who was in military service, was the father. Family members moved frequentlyShe first began to be interested with theatre when the family moved to Greece, and she had been to plays in Athens. Harden began her college education in American colleges in Europe and returned to the US to complete her studies in the University of Texas in 1983 after which she earned an MFA from NYU, and, thereafter was able to begin her career as an actor. While she was in a movie as early as 1986, in a film that was not widely known, The Imagemaker (1986), her first mainstream role in a television film work, was the sultry female fatale of The Imagemaker, the Coen Brothers' cleverly offbeat tribute to the film of the same name, Miller's Crossing (1990). Harden was recognized for her sexy performance in Verna.
